Backbending requires both strong and supple muscles in the upper chest, core and legs. This Boost is about working targeted muscles to create a hugging in sensation we need to lift up properly and to feel light and stable.
Class Focus: We will use a blanket to work some dynamic exercises that hug the muscles of the shoulder complex in and down the back for stability. We will also mobilize or floss the shoulders for range of motion in the upper back and to stretch the muscles on the front of the spine.
Blanket Sun Salutes, forearm slides, salabhasana floss throughs and quad stabilization all help us to get a bit deeper into some backhanding variations.
