Dharma Theme: Do you know how to twist for a healthy spine? Twists are so important for spinal health and overall flexibility. They say we are as young as our spine is so make sure you do this one often to strengthen your core and really rejuvenate your entire body.
Physical Theme: Firing the core muscles which include the muscles of the torso, including front and back body, is key to keeping our skeleton's integrity. Remember that the deepest layer of our bodies are bones and the ones are the spine are particularly neat and some portions of the spine are particularly persnickety. Rather then jamming ourselves into deeper “twists” which, over time, could lead to an injury we use our foundation to set a stable base to which we can open up and free space in the upper chest and back. Finding spinal extension, as well as active and passive movement, we investigate our ability to rotate freely and gracefully. Learning to effectively twist from the stability of the lumbar, or lower spine, can mitigate major injury to the low back which is at risk when twisting improperly.
